Frequently Asked Questions
Why are you retiring the Essentials and Advantage plans?
As the HR landscape continues to evolve and shift, we’re constantly evaluating our products and plans to make sure that we’re empowering you to meet your business needs. Our Essentials and Advantage plans have been in service for over a decade, and we’ve been hard at work developing a completely reimagined BambooHR platform. Sunsetting these legacy plans allows us to better focus on this exciting new platform era so that you have the tools you need to succeed both now and into the future.
Are there options for remaining on Essentials or Advantage?
No. Our Essentials and Advantage plans will no longer be available after May 1, 2025.
When will this change take effect?
Your account will be transitioned to your new plan May 1, 2025. This transition will be seamless and require no effort on your part. Your next bill on or after May 1, 2025 will reflect your new plan pricing.
Will there be any disruption in the system when the transition is made?
No. There will be no service interruption of any kind.
Can I upgrade to my new plan early?
Yes! You can upgrade any time between now and May 1, 2025. If you do, you will be eligible for the same discounts that you would be on May 1, and will get to enjoy all the new features that come with your new plan earlier in the year. Just click ‘Activate Now’ above to unlock these new features today!
How will this migration impact me or my account?
This transition will be seamless and require no effort on your part. All of your data, workflows, reports, customization, etc., will be available as they are now on your Advantage Plan.

Please consult our in-depth guides in this help article for starters. There will also be in-app directions to implement each new feature.

How can I find out what my current plan and price are?
This information is available in Settings > Account Info.
How does this affect my current contract with BambooHR?
The terms of your contract remain unchanged.
How will this impact my prepaid account?
Your monthly invoice will reflect your new plan and price starting May 2025. Your monthly invoice amount will continue to be deducted from your prepaid account balance. The prepaid amount is an estimated amount that adjusts for headcount, packaging or pricing changes, and added products.
How will this impact my nonprofit discount?
Your current nonprofit discount will automatically be applied to your new price and is now also available for payroll!
If you are a registered nonprofit with us and use our payroll, there is no action required on your part. This discount will now automatically be applied to your payroll bill. If you are a nonprofit who is not currently using our payroll but may be interested in taking advantage of this discount, please reach out to our support team ([email protected]) for a free price quote and demo.
How will this impact my related entities (parent/child) discount?
All parent-child accounts will receive our standard discount off all related accounts.
Can you give me more details about the bundle discount?
We truly believe that a single system for HR, payroll, and benefits is the most efficient way to run your business. For your employees who use all three, we’re pleased to offer you a 15% bundle discount on their subscription cost for these products.
